There are 24 hours in a day.
Actually there are 24.0658 (We technically have 365.25 days a year. Instead of throwing off the calendar by adding 6 hours or .25 days to every year, we add a day on every 4 years – also know as Leap Year. #mindblown💥)
I literally just added 3.95 minutes to your day #yourewelcome But what if for a day you had an extra hour? What would you do?
My answer : Try out a GIANT budget-friendly grocery store on a Sunday evening with my tiny terror and my best friend. And if you don’t know, Sundays are the WORST days to go grocery shopping – especially if it’s your first time at a particular grocery store – because everyone and literally their mama is in there. Sometimes grandma too. 😂
So how did I get this extra hour? A time machine? A genie in a bottle? Fairy friends?
Nope. Daylight savings. But if you do have a fairy friend…share the love. AND the magic. #sharingiscaring 😜
Daylight savings gave me a chance to have an extra hour. Most people use the extra hour to sleep, but since my child missed the memo and I forgot to change my clocks – yes I still use clocks instead of my Iphone – the entire day I kept thinking it was later than it actually was.
Even though I maximized my extra hour, I don’t think having the extra hour is what made me MORE productive.
What made me more productive is that I’m learning to manage the time that I DO have. It sounds so cliche but in my case – and maybe yours #nojudgement – it may be true. TIME MANAGEMENT IS CRUCIAL.
Being a single parent means I have a limited amount of free time or what I like to now call “ME TIME”. (I get so excited talking about it I have to use capital letters. 😂) I used to spend my “ME TIME” cleaning, cooking, chasing down bubbles (who knew they were a seasonal item at the 99 cent store? I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA. When is it ever “too cold” for bubble?!? End rant.)
One of the things I’ve tried to do is household chores WITH my child. Yes it takes longer to do anything, BUT he enjoys helping me and it allows me to save my “ME TIME” for the 30 mins (+/- 30 mins #justkeepingitreal 😂) he watches TV in the morning and evening.
So what can you do to maximize your time?
Here’s a suggestion – check your social media while walking… on a treadmill. Please don’t be the girl at the mall who walks into the fountain while texting. I’m pretty sure they now have “Text at your own risk” signs at that mall now….😂😂😂
